bonding two network cards

I have RP3440 servers that have 2 NICs, which connected to two set of gigabit switches. I would like to bond these two nics so that when one switch fail, the network is not affected. I have DL380 servers running linux or windows which I can just using bonding or teaming on the nics to the same ip address. how do I do that in HP UX 11.11 and 11.23?

Re: bonding two network cards

You buy an optional product called Auto-Port Aggragation. In addition to "bonding" multiple physical ports into a single logical port, APA also allows some of the physical ports to fail while the logical port continues to function --- albeit at reduced bandwidth.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Shalom Li,

The DL380 servers run Linux, which offers this feature for free. HP-UX does not. APA, must be purchased to use this feature on HP-UX.

If you already happen to have ServiceGuard you can configure your second card as a hot standby spare.

Via "lanscan" you can see your lancarss and the link aggregates that are configured. The linkl aggregates are named "LinkAgg0 .... LinkAgg4..etc. Therefore do the ff:

# lanscan
# ifconfig LinkAgg0

If yousee an IP for one ofr the LinkAgg's then APA ( Auto Port Aggregation )is configured.
