Boot device not found
I am getting this error while booting HP900/712,
but I am able to see the HDD at
Boot_Admin> search scsi
what may be the problem, & what can i do?

Hi Nitin,
Not sure about the 712 series boxes. Try with search ipl. It will list the bootable devices. You can select one of the boot device from them

Although you can see the HDD, this simply means that a SCSI ID command returned normally. It says nothing about the contents of the disk or it's ability to function normally. If there is no boot device found, this means that the processor ROMs searched the beginning sectors of each disk in your system and did not find the codes needed to bootup. This would happen if the disk is not readable (disk has failed and needs replacing) or someone accidentally wrote data over the beginning sectors, thus destroying the boot code. You would have to use your Ignite backup image (tape or network server) to restore your disk.
