Boot problem
During initial Booting stage system doing following steps
1)It will search for bootable device, then it will ask enter the bootable path
2)After that enter into Main Menu stage.
Manin Menu>bo
Interact with IPL>Y
IPL>hpux
then it shows bottom line FLT CBF0
I'd like to know how to solve this problem and also what is FLT.
I'll appreciate that..

Take a look at this post : http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0xe7c1119c3420d411b66300108302854d,00.html
Hope this helps (although it does not look good),

Re: Boot problem
CFB0 (the FauLT code) means a High Priority Machine Check (HPMC) has happened. This points to a probable hardware problem (CPU, Cache, Memory or I/O Subsystem). Call your HP Response Center for further troubleshooting if the problem resists.

Re: Boot problem
IPL> hpux -is
This will take you to the single user. Shut your computer down and attach everything. Then reboot normally.
Good Luck.

Re: Boot problem
Do not spend to much time trouble shooting here !
Probably a HW error !
Systemboard ? --> hopefully not !
FLT CBF0 means HPMC handlinh initiated.
As you may know a HPMC = High Priority Machine Check.
Means most of the time a HW issue !

C.

Re: Boot problem
FLT CBF0 is an HPMC error code generated by the system. If you want a better explanation about which part, what error, then check the PIM information under Service Menu in the boot console menu. This is normally a hardware error. I would suggest you to contact the hardware support.
Also, does the system shows some error while booting ( before getting the console display )? What do you mean by system checking for bootable device ? Normally the system will start booting from the primary boot disk !

Re: Boot problem
If you have an external disk connected, and since then the problem of occasionally reboots started occurring, then you will need to investigate on the crash dump.
This you will find in /var/adm/crash.
These should be send to HP or you will have to know your way with q4 to debug the real problem.

Re: Boot problem
If you suspect the external disk, then remove it and try booting again. Is it a disk array ? What type of array ? While you remove the external disk, terminate it properly if needed.

Re: Boot problem
Is it a single disk ? which model ? Did you terminate the SCSI bus after removing the disk ? Did you check the PIM information ?

Re: Boot problem
You need to contact the hardware support. They will have better tools to analyze the cause of the problem. You can check the PIM information in the mean time.

Re: Boot problem
1) Interrupt the bootup to get to Service Menu.
2) At main menu prompt enter "service"
3) In the Service Menu enter "pim 0" for processor 1 or "pim 1" for processor 1, this gives you the data you need to troubleshoot.

Re: Boot problem
This error comes out to be "slave CPU halted due to catastrophic boot failure". Will need to know what is your server model to determine the accuracy of the fault message.
