Boot Problem

When i try to boot it says

/stand/vmunix cannot open ; not executable

from ISL i cannot do hpux ll /

it gives back the same

/stand/vmunix cannot open ; not executable

Any way to get around with this?

try booting with /stand/vmunix.prev

if LIF has been corruped - you have to use thre recovery CD/DVD to recover...

This is Expert Recovery Using the Core Media.
Please look into the section "Rebuilding the bootlif and Installing Critical Files " and follow the step by step procedure.. only copying bootlif should work in our case, else you may try other steps as well..

If all else fails, you could try an ignite backup recovery.

Joe,

-what is the os version you are using.

-Did you change anything before rebooting the box.

- try booting from recovery shell and see if you have any good kernel to boot from, also crun mkboot on your pri disk.

-if you have created ignite recovery tape , you can use after trying all the options.

boot the machine in single user mode. & boot with the alternate kernel
