Boot via cd and issue ioscan?
I am trying to setup an HP san boot, so needed the san lun address at the ISL stage.
Is it possible to view the full disk path for a san lun at ISL prompt using "search" ?
Since I could not find this path, it returned paths only of the hbas. I had to boot via cd but could not find ioscan when I booted with my 11v2 cd.
I exited to shell and had to do "cat /tmp/hw.info" to see the hardware paths.
Is there any easier way to check the H/W path?
Thanks

Re: Boot via cd and issue ioscan?
Its almost a chicken & egg question, e.g. which came first.
To see the SAN, you need a driver. To have a driver, you need an OS. Of course booting from the SAN you have no OS.
I'd check that system firmware is up to date.
Model number of the system? Not all models even support SAN boot.

Re: Boot via cd and issue ioscan?
Hi Steve,
I should have said... I succeeded in creating SAN boot via EMC disks .... but am facing issues when I clone this device and assign them to a new HP box to boot it off the clone.
Since I have to either manually calculate the lun addr using "Adapter.Domain.Area.Port.Bus.Target.LUN" or boot off the cd if the guess is not right.
I have rp3410 HP boxes and hba are LP9002 or HP Hba's (A6826).
In the hope of getting lun info at ISL... I had upgraded ILO, BMC and PDC.
Thanks

Re: Boot via cd and issue ioscan?
The system will load the install kernel and present you the install screen. On this screen you can see all you need - it scans the SAN and show you the available disks and the path. Just make a note and reboot from this path.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
