Booting HPux from p400 on RX6600

Folks,
Have an rx6600 with a p400 controller. I have created a mirror set that I want to install Hpux on. Under ORCA, it allows you to create/delete/show the raid sets. On the online install guide it also shows a pick that allows you to set the boot controller. But this is not on my p400. The p400 does have the latest firmware. Hpux v2 and v3 installs fail when it looks for a hard drive to install on. From EFI, there is no entry for the mirrored boot device. How do I go about getting this in there? I am having this problem both on a brand new 6600 as well as a like configured 3600. I have seen references in here about older version of v2 and v3 not being able to boot from PCIe, but if I can't see a device in EFI, I wouldn't think it would matter then...

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
John

What commands did you try from EFI?

For 11.31 you will need the latest sept. 2007 release, for 11.23 it should be new too (don't remember the first release that supports this).

Hope this helps!

Re: Booting HPux from p400 on RX6600

Folks,
Thanks for the replies. The versions of v2 and v3 we have definately are not even close to the latest. We are working on getting those now.

What is more puzzling is the fact that I do not see a logical disk in the EFI. I'm actually more concerned about that. And again, these are brand new systems and the issue is consistant with both the 3600 and the 6600. Does anyone know if there is anything special in EFI that you need todo to present a logical disk with this controller? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
John

You need very new install media for this, see also

Again, what you did in EFI?
Did you try
EFI> devices

Hope this helps!

I would probably triple check that you do indeed have the latest p400 firmware. While you are there, you might as well check that you are on the latest system firmware - PDH, BMC, MP, etc...

At the EFI shell, if you don't see what you expect to see, you could try a reconnect -r and perhaps then a map -r and see if things appear there.

For the external devices reconnect -r and map -r are required.
