Re: Booting problem in single users mode as well as normal boot
It could be a problem with the BDRA. Try booting it in LV maintenance mode. After interacting with ISL do this
ISL>hpux -lm
If it boots, then update the BDRA
lvlnboot -b /dev/vg00/lvol1
lvlnboot -r /dev/vg00/lvol3
lvlnboot -s /dev/vg00/lvol2
lvlnboot -d /dev/vg00/lvol2
lvlnboot -R
lvlnboot -v
Imagining that you kept defaults. Look at your /etc/fstab (once you booted in lvmaintenance mode) to confirm the logical volumes.
Did you move the boot disk?. Why did you reboot it in the first place.
Regarding booting off of CD, make sure the path is specified correctly. At bootadmin prompt do 'search ipl' and see if the CD is listed in the devices.

PS: if you are going to assign points, wait until your problem is completely resolved. Otherwise others may ignore this thread thinking that your problem is solved.

Re: Booting problem in single users mode as well as normal boot
At this time, you will need to use recovery CD to fix the problem. It's a bit lengthy process.
Look at the following document on how to do it
http://docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/B2355-90153/B2355-90153.html
Section "HP-UX system REcovery" Chapter "Expert Recovery using core media". Read through it before you try it.
To find your CD, run 'sea ipl' at the bootadmin prompt.

Re: Booting problem in single users mode as well as normal boot
ENTRY_INIT -4 Causes:
- the disk is experiencing hardware faults and needs replacing.
- the path to the disk is experiencing problems. e.g.. Termination,
cabling, SCSI adapter, SCSI adapter seating.

Re: Booting problem in single users mode as well as normal boot
Do you have one ?
2. Reboot system
look for any problem when self test pass.
Are there any errors ?
3. Stop on PDC prompt
4. At the PDC prompt, type "search"
for a list of bootable devices.
For example:
Main Menu: Enter command or menu > search
Give me output pls ?
5. Select the CD-ROM device, boot from that device, and then choose to interact with IPL (ISL). For example:
Main Menu: Enter command or menu > boot p3
6. Interact with IPL (Y, N, or Cancel)?> y
(where p3 corresponds to the CD-ROM device.)
7. At the ISL> prompt, type ODE:
8. ISL> ODE
9. At the ODE> prompt, type the offline diagnostic program you want to run. For example:
10. ODE> mapper
or
ODE> help for HELP
Start all test
Is there any problem ?
