booting the 10.20 install CD from win2000 through LAN
As I do not have CD reader on a HP 9000 715/100, I was trying to BOOTP from a PC running Win2000 , bootp and tftp server and the HP-UX 10.20 install CD inserted in the PC. I managed to get the WS to contact the PC and to get an IP address. Now I am missing the information of which file shall transferred to the WS to be able to boot and install 10.20.
Thank you for your help

This setup simply won't work. Contact your local HP Sales office to see if there is a HP cdrom that you can rent to perform the installation.
The install has to be done by a HP cdrom that can read the install media.

Re: booting the 10.20 install CD from win2000 through LAN
You cannot do it with Win2000.
There is a software provided by HP called Ignite/UX that can be used to ignite the systems. You will need to have another HP system that servers as Ignite server.
Look at the following URL for more information on Ignite.

Re: booting the 10.20 install CD from win2000 through LAN
To have a chance, you would need an NFS export on Windows and a tftp server.
While those products exist, I believe this method will still fail.
Better, copy the cd to a hard disk on a Linux or HP box and use NFS export/tftp there. At least you have a shot at the cd being mounted properly.
HP boxes can only boot as Ignite clients via their built in LAN card.

In the esteemed, paraphrased words of one of our more notable forum members:
That dog ain't gonna hunt!
Not in anybody's lifetime I might add.
Either install a CD/DVD or get ahold of an Ignite tape - that's your options.
Rgds,
