Booting too slow

I have done fresh installation of 2004's 11.11 HP-UX in HP RP2470. The installation went fine, the installation completed with-in 30-40 minutes. But the problem is, whenever the box is booting, it is taking hours , and it will struck somewhere in the booting sequence.

Even if it reboot the box, when the OS is booting, it will boot very slowly and it will get hanged in the middle of booting sequence, and I won't get login prompt at all.

I have attached snapshot of the OS when it is booting.

Any help please ?

>Start RPC daemon if needed ................ FAIL *

Have you looked at /etc/rc.log to see why this is failing?

>Configuring HP Fibre Channel FCD Mass Storage interfaces ............

Have you looked here too? You may not be able to see this until you can boot. Try booting in single user mode?
Try typing Control-| to abort that step?

Re: Booting too slow

Hi Shasi Kanth
Where it is stucking, from your snap shot it is not clear where it is stucking watch the booting sequence and inform where it is stucking if that process is not necssary deactivate from single user mode and reboot it

Re: Booting too slow

The problem is solved.

When I installed HP-UX, I have configured XNTP.

But there is some network problem, the box was not able to communicate to NTP server, because of this, the box is booting too slow.

But once the network problem is solved, the box was booting very fast as normally.

Thank you.
