Booting vpar's from lan problem on SD
Hi,
I have a problem with booting from lan on my vpars.
The ingite-UX server works great because we tested it by booting from lan on the npar and that works (boot lan.ip-number install). But when we try to boot a vpar from ignite-UX we have a strange problem.
The command we use is:
vpar0 # vparboot -p vpar1 -I ip-number,/opt/ignite/boot/WINSTALL
The result is nothing, the command just returns to the prompt without any error logging or whatever.
We are using the lan card in the core io to boot the vpar's from lan and we also have fc's in the same io chassis but they are down at the moment.
As anyone experience the same problem?
Are there some restrictions i.e. the lan card must be lan0?

Re: Booting vpar's from lan problem on SD
Hi,
From the vparboot(1m) man page , ERROR section:
NOTE: If the boot device has not been configured properly the vparboot command will complete without error, but the virtual
partition will not boot.
Two possible reasons for this could be:
+ The BOOT or ALTBOOT attribute was assigned to a device other than a disc or tape.
ther than a disc or tape.
+ The file at the default or configured kernel path does not exist or is not a bootable image.

leave the WINSTALL path out, and use only
vparboot -p vpar1 -I
