both EMC PowerMT and HPUX native MPIO enabled. Am i safe to remove the EMC PowerMT ?
HP-UX Admins,
My server currently is running HPVM with MCSC. The MSCS will manage the vm failover/online migrate.
i have both Native MPIO and EMC PowerMT enabled in HPUX 11.31 servers.
i check against the vm, powermt and native MPIO, i realiazed they using same /dev/rdisk/diskXX.
Example in below:-
hpvmstatus -V -P vm01 |grep rdisk
Physical Device : /dev/rdisk/disk181
Physical Device : /dev/rdisk/disk176
ioscan -m dsf output:
/dev/rdisk/disk176 /dev/rdsk/c21t0d2
/dev/rdsk/c23t0d2
/dev/rdisk/disk181 /dev/rdsk/c19t0d2
/dev/rdsk/c25t0d2
PowerMt output:
Pseudo name=disk181
Symmetrix ID=000298701698
Logical device ID=02AB
state=alive; policy=BasicFailover; priority=0; queued-IOs=0;

Remove the EMC Powerpath. Not only is it redundant, the native multipathing and Powerpath will interfere with each other and reduce performance.

Please remove EMC Powerpath , we too had faced a reboot when we had kept both Softwares.
