Built-in LAN speed and duplex mode question

What duplex modes (half or full) will the Built-in LAN interface support on the older models, specifically the E45, H Class, and K-class?

Is the Built-in LAN interface for the E class, H class and K class always 10 Mbs/half duplex (full duplex is not an option)?

And finally, if the Built-in LAN interface on these class servers supports full duplex, how does one set the duplex mode on the interface and can you detect/determine the setting from the command line?

lanadmin will tell you all.

# lanadmin -> lan -> display

The first few lines will tell you all you want to know.

Re: Built-in LAN speed and duplex mode question

You're right, it's 10Mbs.... there is no such thing as full duplex 10Mbs...try it and see.

We had an incorrect setting on a port on a switch here one day, 10Mbs half duplex. It started to "flap" - in other words the device on that port was constantly joining and leaving the switch group.

Re: Built-in LAN speed and duplex mode question

Hi Sarah,

10BaseT support onlt 10MBPS half duplex. For more info on 100BaseT and HD/FD, take a look at this thread,

On a lan port supporting FD, you can modify the FD/HD 10/100 options using the "lanadmin" command.

Hope this helps.

Re: Built-in LAN speed and duplex mode question

Hi Sarah,

All the models that you mentioned are only 10 Half Duplex. They do not support Full duplex.

However there is a thing called 10 Full Duplex!!!!!.
