Hi all,
I just need some inputs regarding your business continuity plan. I want to get the best practices and apply it in our company.
We have many production servers scattered around Asia. (Philippines, China, Indonesia, India, etc.) We want to have a business continuity plan for these servers but we cannot afford to buy a backup server for each country. What do you think is the best solution for us? What are the other solution other than buying a backup server?
Your input is highly appreciated.

Solution
Hi Karl,
You can use the existing production servers and setup continental clusters. For ex., production server in China can act as a backup server to that in Phillipines etc.,However, you will still have to buy storage as you have to a 'basic replication algorithm' between the primary and the backup site and the storage/network connectivity.
I assume these servers are HP servers. If so, then try looking at continental clusters.
You can find the documentation at docs.hp.com in "High Availability Section".

You may be disappointed if you fail, but you are doomed if you don't try

Re: business continuity plan
If you are not planning to buy more servers the bset available plan is to have a continetal clustering only.Even that depends what database u are using.if you have oracle with RAC well clustering is the best solution for you ,even it serves the purpose as a disaster site.More risk protection .But still you need to invest money almost equal buying backup servers for each country locations. But if you consider the advantages of continetal clusters, disaster site better go for it.
