C-ISAM on NFS (protocol)

C-ISAM is an Application Which will accelerate the database operation.
Scenario:
C- ISAM Application (Informix software)will be residing on Server Called X and the Data Base will be residing on the Server called Y. The Data base is mounted on NFS mount.
I would like to Know weather C-ISAM Application Will work on NFS (protocol) Mount.

The case here is customer is looking for NAS box which will work on NFS protocol. Their Assumption is that C-ISAM Application may not work with NFS Protocol.

Please send me the document if you have any that C-isam will work on NFS mount. Let me know any of your friends came across this type problem.

Regards
Praveen

Re: C-ISAM on NFS (protocol)

Now I might be completely wrong here but my understanding is that C-ISAM is not an application as such but is a method of indexing and retrieving data much like b-tree indexing. It is quite old and was supposed to be more flexible than b-tree.

If this truly is the case then it will not matter one jot if the underlying filesystem is NFS or anything.
Never preceed any demonstration with anything more predictive than "watch this"
