C180 with EISA 100VG Anylan I/F card at HP-UX 11.0
Hi All,
wonder if anyone knows the answer to this:- I have upgraded a 10.20 C180 system to
OS 11.0.The n/w card is a 100VG card.I have
installed the vglan0 driver and an ioscan
shows the card as claimed and vglan0 as driver o.k.The port on the VGswitch is the same as was used before so I know it works. However,
I never get a link led lit on the vg card on boot...it just hangs.Question is, is this a supported configuration? ie C180 at OS 11.0 with an EISA 100vg card?....incidentally I have upgraded an identical C180 to 11.0 and installed a 100TX PCI card (btlan5 driver)and this set up works fine.Would appreciate any comments/feedback.
Regards,
John.

Re: C180 with EISA 100VG Anylan I/F card at HP-UX 11.0
Hi,
As I understand it EISA is being dropped from HPUX 11i onwards. Any 64bit version of HPUX 11 will not support EISA either leaving just 11.00 32 bit and 11.11 32 bit being able to support your card.
Hope this helps...
Ian.

Re: C180 with EISA 100VG Anylan I/F card at HP-UX 11.0
Thanks for the info Ian....I found my problem to be a "length" issue...113 metres from C180 to switch...moved box closer to switch and it worked!
Regards,
John.
