EMC Symmetrix 3430 with Symmetrix Disk Reallocation (SDR).
SCSI devices c7t1d0,c7t2d0, .... , c7t14d0 and
c7t1d1, c7t2d1, ... , c7t14d1.
I want to move c7t4d0 and c7t4d1 via SDR to another host connected to the Symmetrix. I seem to recall a distant time ago that HP-UX had a problem seeing disks beyond a gap in a SCSI chain.
If I remove a disk from the middle of a SCSI chain, will HP-UX loose sight of the disks after the one removed?

If you can focus your eyes far and straight enough ahead of yourself, you can see the back of your head.

Re: Can a target LUN be remove from the middle of a SCSI chain?
as long as the chain is terminated, you do not need to have the SCSI id's in sequence. Obviously everything in the chain must physically be connected, then terminated, but if you have SCSI ID 1,2,3,4,5. You can remove SCSI disk 3 without any problems

Re: Can a target LUN be remove from the middle of a SCSI chain?
Byron,
(1) make sure you do a make_recovery
(2) do a normal backup (of your data)
(3) bring your system up to date with patches
(4) create another make_recovery
(5) do your move
(6) create another make_recovery
(7) have a great day
live free or die

Solution
Hi Byron:
You remember correctly. In 10.20 and 11.0 patches were required if EMC LUN numbers were not contiguous.
No patches are necessary for 11.11.
For 11.0 see patch PHKL_???? [can't locate]
For 10.20 see patch PHKL_23259
Regards!
