Re: can any one guide me with commands what needs to be executed and what needs to be done on this issue
Shalom,
A physical disk can only be in one volume group or logical volume at a time.
Linux LVM lets you subdivide a disk. HP-UX LVM does not.
What I see happening here is there was an alternate path to the disks that are no longer present. Something changed and that caused the error. If it was unplanned you may wish to see the SAN/disk administrator and see if they can reverse it.
If not:
mv /etc/lvmtab /etc/lvmtab.saved
vgscan -av
You may also be forced to use:
vgreduce -f
Follow the instructions at the end of that command precisely to preserve data and volume group integrity.

Where exactly is your issue?
Please tell some more information!
Keep in mind that a "HP DISK-SUBSYSTEM" is only a "placeholder" from the XP array, not a real disk.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: can any one guide me with commands what needs to be executed and what needs to be done on this issue
Assuming that your volume groups --"vgdata2backup", "vgdata3backup ", "vgdata4backup" are missing.
please try importing these disk as a test volume
here are the steps
# mkdir /dev/testvg1
# ll /dev/*/group #<- get UNUSED unique minor number
# mknod /dev/testvg1/group c 64 0xUU0000
( where UU is a unique minor number below maxvgs )
this would sort out your vgdata*backup vg's, vgapp is another story!!
# vgimport /dev/testvg1 /dev/dsk/c7t4d6 /dev/dsk/c7t12d1 /dev/dsk/c7t12d2 /dev/dsk/c9t4d1 /dev/dsk/c9t4d2 /dev/dsk/c9t12d6
# mount the lvols and check which VG is it
repeat the same steps for all the 4 groups on vgscan
ONCE you have mounted and found which VG is which VG, export and reimport it as a the corresponding vg ( vgdata*backup )
this would sort out your vgdata*backup volume groups however vgapp is another story
