Can anyone rack their openspool brain ?
Nov 4 23:26:59 nz935_1 ./qserver(q_on_nz935_1):[24359]: OpenSpool: INTERNAL ERR
OR: 253 5 GetPdAdress: Find for supervisor AUCK4 failed
Nov 4 23:26:59 nz935_1 ./qserver(q_on_nz935_1):[24359]: OpenSpool: INTERNAL ERR
OR: 253 8 ForwardReadAttributes: GetPdAdress failed for spvr AUCK4
I am wondering if these two errors have anything to do with network connectivity ?
Thanks
Paul

Re: Can anyone rack their openspool brain ?
Most openspool errors are triggered by network issues. Any changes to /etc/nsswitch.conf can prompt trouble. If you are already DNS then make sure the server entries for the various printer IP addresses are up to date.
If you have changed from files, dns to dns, files in nsswitch.conf, you will need to switch back. I have a very old software case with instructions on how to fix this if you need it. It will take time to find.
Also, I remember if the system is swapping to heavily getting an error like that.
253 is a generic, catchall error that provides little useful information.
The basic rule is what changed recently, to diagnose.

Re: Can anyone rack their openspool brain ?
Thanks for update, I no longer use openspool on this system, but a new printing solution, there one printer with an issue and Im tracing back to the openspool days to see if this error is something along the lines off, a break in network, which may lead to perhaps half a report being printed.
As these conditions are what I think is causing an issue now.
I am possibly going to change this device to use remote lp anyway.
This new solution has only been in a week or so......
Thanks

Re: Can anyone rack their openspool brain ?
Yup it's down to network connectivity.
From memory the HP hubs with the single bnc connector were always a bit ropey.
you could always check the jetadmin card it has some handy utils.

Re: Can anyone rack their openspool brain ?
Is nz935 a remote site or is the server local?

Re: Can anyone rack their openspool brain ?
Long time no speak !
I dont even know if this is using the BNC , I think they may use CAT5 now. I haven't asked, the printers not got a jet direct either , its a Kyocera !
Im thinking of changing the printer to use remote lp and port 515 instead of 9100 to see how this gets on.
Cheers

Re: Can anyone rack their openspool brain ?
nz935 is main server and the printer is on same LAN.
