Can HP model L1500-7x run 11i V2 (11.23) or higher

We have an HP server
[orasrv4:/root]# uname -a
HP-UX orasrv4 B.11.11 U 9000/800 1755927601 unlimited-user license
[orasrv4:/root]# model
9000/800/L1500-7x
[orasrv4:/root]#

We would like to get the OS to 11i V2 (11.23)
by doing an upgrade of the current OS 11.11

I am looking for answers to the following questions:

1. Can the hardware support it, how / where can I verify or check that ?

2. Is the upgrade process risky or smooth ?
And why

Thanks.

Your server (L1500 aka rp5430) can run 11.23, but it is not supported with 11.31, see

http://docs.hp.com/en/5991-8010/ch02s03.html

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Hi Frank,

1) This hardware is supported
http://docs.hp.com/en/5991-4794/ch02s03.html

PA-RISC Servers.

HP 9000 rp24x0 and rp34x0 series

HP 9000 rp44x0 and rp54x0 series

HP 9000 rp74x0 and rp84x0 series

HP 9000 Superdome server

64-bit A-Class, L-Class, and N-Class servers

2) Personally I prefer cold install.
you can follow upgrade path

Check if the OS supports your hardware (controllers/adapters) from here:

http://docs.hp.com/en/9551/IOcards_PA_IPF.htm

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
