of booting from an FC-Tape?
I'm asking this because we're thinking about
making "mk_tape_recovery" onto an FC-Tape
in a FC connected library in order to have
a DR solution for a Backup Server.
Thank's & best Regards,
Arnold

Re: Can I boot HP-UX from an FC tape?
Are you able to see the H/W path for this tape device after issuing SEA command in PDCmenu? I feel you wont be.Also I feel that it is not going to work. We too have FC librarys at our place, but for ignite recovery we use the portable Surestore ultrium tape drive.

Syam

Re: Can I boot HP-UX from an FC tape?
the Info in thread
http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=756943
contains excactly what I was looking for.
So it seems that although you can create a recovery tape on a FC / SAN attached tape
drive, you need a locally attached tape drive in order to boot / restore from it.
Thank's much & Regards,
Arnold

Re: Can I boot HP-UX from an FC tape?
We tried it to an HP storageworks device and found out after a month of messing around it was not supported.
WE could write the tape, but could not read it to save our lives.

Re: Can I boot HP-UX from an FC tape?
Same suggestion as SEP.
Dont take any risk. Make sure that this is tested and working fine and can hep you in a critical situation , you can always have the option of taking ignite on a nomal ultrium tape device.

Syam
