Can I install Oracle 8.1.7 on HP-UX itanium 11i v2

I am going to install Oracle 8.1.7 on HP-UX itanium 11i v2.
Is it OK?
If not, Can I install Oracle 8.1.7 on HP-UX PA-RICS 11i v2.

Hi,

Oracle 8.1.7 is not supported by oracle anymore. So it cannot be installed on hpux 11iv2. Neither on PA-RISC or Itanium.

I propose you choose for oracle10g

As mentioned earlier - not supported for 11.23 on either platform.

I'm also aware that core libraries have changed both content and location, so it's not even worth trying to run and debug the Oracle installer routines.

You probably can get away with running 8.1.7.4

I believe I have communicated with a few folks that actually did that.

Its a very bad idea to use 8.1.x at all. Its out of support and the conversion of data and app's to 10g is not all that painful.
