My HP server with 11.0 OS boots proprly; but neither I am not able to login to the console nor able to telnet the server.

On console I am login as a root & pressing enter key but it is not prompting me for the password & gets hang.

Can somebody please let me know what will be the problem.

Re: Can not able to login to HP-UX 11.0 OS

You need to provide a bit more detail.

I'm going to assume you tried root login and it didn't work.

At the console, restart the machine. If you can't log in, use the power switch.

At the 10 seocnd prompt interupt

bo

Interact with the ISL (Y)es

hpux -is

After it boots

/sbin/passwd

You set the root password.

Now you have control of your box.

Re: Can not able to login to HP-UX 11.0 OS

Hi,
did you do a hardware change or software change on the machine recently?

when you telnet, did the server hangs too?
do the application installed running fine?
waiting your reply..

what is the model of your server?

is there an error in the GSP? (if you can access it or it exists)

Re: Can not able to login to HP-UX 11.0 OS

Hi,

Thanks a lot for the instant suggestions.
I tried disconnecting the 2 HBA cards which was further connected to the SAN & now I can able to boot my server.

Can you please let us know how this HBA card will be causing the problem.

Thanks & Regards

Re: Can not able to login to HP-UX 11.0 OS

It could be anything in the chain that you disconnected. It could be the HBA, you could have a bad cable, you could have a bad switch port or GBIC, there could even be a problem on your SAN.

With this little bit of information there is really no way to tell what the trouble is.
