can not copy file on TFTP sever unless already exist in server
I install a ciscowrks 2000 system in B180L WS with HPUX 10.20, there are a function can get router config in TFTP sever, but it didn't work.I found that you can not write file to TFTP sever unless this file already exist in this server even it is empty file, it means you only can overwrite a file instead of copy, I try copy file from another HPUX and a router, the result is same.
how can I copy file without create it firstly
I just get a good suggestion said this is TFTP nature, if it does, is there are any third pard software can do it?the windows version TFTP sever have not such restrict.
best regards
denio

Re: can not copy file on TFTP sever unless already exist in server
well indeed the fact is that you cannot TFTP a file to a unknown name on HP-UX , as you say that is indeed the nature of TFTP , simple solution is to touch the filename you are going to use manually on the directory you will be TFTP-ing to on the server....tftp is used mainly fort hings like router firmware and config update so is has mostly standard naming so you don't have to much work doing so
I'm not aware of any third party tftpd software capable of doing it myself but perhaps a version does exist , this would require simply to run another tftpd deamon then HP's , if windows doesn't have a problem witht that this is probably because microsoft chose to interprete the RFC rules for TFTP differently so , I would however like to point out if you start using a 3rd party version of tftpd this would automaticaly fall out of HP's support in cause of trouble , I've been scanning briefly the internet but couldn't turn up any 3rd-party soft you could use yet...
