Can't not install "bastille" on HPUX

Hi,

I have download the "bastille" software from HP and know that the preriquisite software is Perl 5.6.1E. currently on my system, I have already installed the newest perl 5.8.0, and this is cause the software installation error during the software analyze, after that I try to install the previous version of perl (5.6.1) to my system, but still can not install "bastille" too. Do anyone have an idea for this problem?

Check the /var/adm/sw/swagentd.log - look for messages that state that a prerequisite is missing. It will name what swinstall is looking for specificially. That's what you need to post here.

Perl 5.6.1e or higher will work if it has all the right modules.

I am moving your post to the security forum because we have some HP monitors there who may also be able to help move this along.

The error is report like they can not found the software set of "Perl 5.6.1E", but Perl is already installed on the machine with 5.8.0.

You need the HP supported version of Perl from:

http://www.software.hp.com/cgi-bin/swdepot_parser.cgi/cgi/displayProductInfo.pl?productNumber=PERL

I'm not sure how bastille will interact with your version of Perl, because I have no idea where it came from. (HP doesn't currently ship Perl 5.8.0)

You may choose to workaround the install-time check by setting enforce_dependencies=false during the swinstall session. It will give you lots of warnings about things not working properly...so I needn't repeat them here.

Hope that helps. Perl is available from a lot of sources and we can't test with all of them. Also, the HP version contains all the modules required so you can do this in just two steps (instead of compiling modules yourself).
