Can't rewrite terminal control entry for console

Help? Our host system is reporting the message "Can't rewrite terminal control entry for console". Security databases are corrupt.

It is a trusted system that is operating with HP-UX 10.2 (I know it's old, but our hands are tied on this at the moment).

How can I reset the security database?

Re: Can't rewrite terminal control entry for console

Hi Nancy,

It's likely that this has been caused by the root filesystem filling up. If you still have a root user logged on, try seeing what's filled up / and see if it can be safely deleted.

If that doesn't fix it I feel that you may have to untrust and retrust the system. This will affect password ageing.

Please also check your patching level - there are a number of vital patches for trusted systems at 10.20 (these got put into 11 as standard.)

regards,

Darren.

Went ahead and untrusted and retrusted the system before seeing any replies. This cleared up problem. May have a few unhappy campers due to resetting passwords.

Appreciated the feedback validating what was done. Thanks!
