Re: Can the smart array 6402 support 512MB cache module in HP-UX 11i v1?
The smart array 6402 is a hardware raid card that can be added in to a server that supports hp-ux.
As to replacing 512 MB cache module on the server, I don't think these two devices fit into the same slot.
Perhaps you could restate your question with a little more detail.

I mean replace 128MB module by 512MB module on the smart array 6402.
Don't replace the smart array 6402 RAID card.

Have a great time.
There is no OS configuration for this. This is an OS independent function of the hardware. You should see a marginal improvement in throughput on input/output operations.

Re: Can the smart array 6402 support 512MB cache module in HP-UX 11i v1?
I just want to know the smart array 6402 with 512MB cache module that can be install in rp34xx or rp44xx with HP-UX 11i v1?
Because I only found windows, sco unix and linux in support matrix of smart array 6402/6404 quick spec document. It's not include HP-UX 11i operation system.
If this card have some issue in HP-UX 11i.
Maybe we change it to 128MB module(default).
Because this is a proposition from HP CE.
Thanks for your kindly response.

I don't think the OS will notice the difference. I'd say give it a try.

http://docs.hp.com/en/SM_SA3/SA_Support_Matrix.htm
But I agree to SEP - how should the OS know the cache and even this matrix?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Can the smart array 6402 support 512MB cache module in HP-UX 11i v1?
So I knew the smart array 6402 just only bundle 128MB cache module.
Because I found it can upgrade to 512MB cache module from here.
http://h18006.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/11587_div/11587_div.html
And the OS compatibility support linux OS.
So I think HP-UX no list in the support matrix that because HP don't certificate it in HP-UX environment.
But I found it can be support in rx3600 server with HP-UX 11i v2. But OS just only list HP-UX 11i v2.
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12595_div/12595_div.HTML
So I just want to know who have installed the smart array 6402 with 512MB cache module in HP-UX 11i v1 ?
However, Thanks for you both.
