Re: can we install HP-UX in Virtual Machine
HP_UX can be installed in HP's CM inplementation called - HP Integrity Virtual machine. HP intgrity Virtual machine is different from the more common VMWARE.
Here's HP's implementation:

Re: can we install HP-UX in Virtual Machine
Its too bad that there is no HP-UX vmware type release. I recently tried the Solaris equivalent and it was quite nice, though it used grub and doesn't match my limited experience on actual Solaris machines.
vmware for windows does not support any form of HP-UX.

Re: can we install HP-UX in Virtual Machine
You need to install Integrity VM on an Integrity server in order to install guests(hp-ux). dfor more info, check the following links:

Re: can we install HP-UX in Virtual Machine
6600 refers to your rx6600 system.
The only place you can run virtual HP-UX machines is on HP-UX hosts.
This is a substantial limitation, but its HP's problem/opportunity not mine.
The fact that you can try open solaris out on a windows system or a Linux system provides a good test drive platform and certainly can not hurt sales of Solaris software and hardware.
HP should be mindful of this.

Re: can we install HP-UX in Virtual Machine
Well Sun went down the route of moving their crown jewels (Solaris) onto the x86 platform, and look where that got them - having to be bought out by Oracle.
The thing is - although you can run Solaris on an x86 system, the list of ISVs who support apps on that platform combination is small when comapred to Linux/x86, Solaris/SPARC, HP-UX/Itanium, or AIX/Power.
If HP released HP-UX for x86 systems how many ISVs would port their apps? Not many I suspect, even if HP-UX could demonstrate technical superiority over Solaris or Linux...
So I really wouldn't hold your breath for HP-UX on x86, in the same way we won't see AIX on x86 or MVS/zOS on x86

Re: can we install HP-UX in Virtual Machine
I have some questions regarding vpars and integrity VM.
1)Pls explain the difference between vpars and integrity VM.
2)Which is best?
3)which is latest or future?
4)is vpar a tool (software) that we have to install after installing the HPUX os. using that tool we can create multiple virtual partitions.
5)is integrity VM is like OS or software, if it is software first we have to install normal hpux OS like 11iv3 and then we have to install integrity VM software.
