Can we use MC serviceguard ( hp-ux) with IBM storage fastt600 ?

Can we use MC serviceguard ( hp-ux) with IBM storage fastt600 or not or with any storage

You need to actually check with ibm to see if it will work with HP-UX/vxvm/lvm.

If you can connect the storage and it shows up on an ioscan and the nodes can connect via scsi, then in all probability you can use the unit.

SG works with LVM, I can't remember vxvm, but to work right there has to be shared storage.

Re: Can we use MC serviceguard ( hp-ux) with IBM storage fastt600 ?

Hi,

I have absolutely no idea about this IBM storage. As long as you can share the disks without any problem across the systems, then you should be able to configure serviceguard. ServiceGuard interfaces with disks through LVM so, it will have little knowledge if not none about the external stroage. However, HP's support will be efficient if you have all HP equipment in the chain.

However, if you are planning for larger clusters like metropolitan/continental, then you don't have much choice except for HP/EMC storages as there are storage specific commands in the control scripts.

IBM Support the FAStT with Serviceguard, as long as you are referring to HP-UX11i on PA RISC - support for Integrity isn't available yet(now I wonder why IBM would do that!). See the interop matrix here:

Page 10 has the information you are after.

FOr an interesting discussion on using non-HP disk arrays with Serviceguard see this thread:

As already mentioned, you can read the thread that Duncan points you to. To summarize, it probably would work, but it is not supported with Serviceguard.

HP will not support SG on IBM fastT600 storage. HP won't support things it doesn't test, and it can't test everything. It would need to be able to function as a clusterlock disk to work.

Check this. They are using IBM Shark disk array with HP MC/Service guard and he is successful also. You may get in touch with

Richard Marshall about how it went.
