Cannot install client after successfull lan boot
the next step
i choose
[ Install HP-UX ]
then on next screen
i choose
User Interface Options:
[ * ] Advanced Installation (recommended for disk and filesystem management)
then i on the next screen i choose
[ 1/0/0/3/0/0 lan4 0x0017A4770002 HP_PCIe_2-p_10GbE_Built-in ]
then i choose
Do you want the DHCP lease on IP address: "10.123.4.78" (CLIENTNAME),
from DHCP server: "MYIGNITESERVER.domain", released so that it can be
reallocated to a different system? [n]
then the following screen comes back:
[ Install HP-UX ]
[ Run an Expert Recovery Shell ]
[ Advanced Options ]
I do not understand why the installation jumps backward and comes not with the next screen, without any Message on the screen.
Has anyone had similar problems ?
(8 Lan Cards on Client, using lan4)
Ignite: C.7.10.474
Any ideas/comments are welcome.
Regards Olaf

Re: Cannot install client after successfull lan boot
What is the model of the server you're trying to install it to?
Can the bootloader of the server (EFI or PDC) detect any disks? If there are no usable disks, the installation cannot continue.

Re: Cannot install client after successfull lan boot
(VM)in our domain.
-> same results.
it seems not to be a problem with the specific hw.
does anybody knows if the client must be registered in the clients-directorie of the ignite server to do the installation ?

Re: Cannot install client after successfull lan boot
for example under /var/opt/ignite/clients (on ignite server)
mkdir clientMACaddress
ln -s MACaddress hostname
chown -R -h bin:bin MACaddress dir
under /var/opt/ignite/recovery/archives
mkdir hostname
chown bin:bin hostname
for nfs be sure your client is added. In 11.23 it was the /etc/exports file where you had to add the client server to the clients line. I haven't done it with 11.31 so I'm not sure which file needs to be edited.

Re: Cannot install client after successfull lan boot
the tui itool ? screen appears allways not.
i 've made a nw trace on the server:
in the nw trace from ignite server i've seen that after downloading the iinstall theres only some bootp dhcp trafic, then nothing arrives from client to server.
any more ideas are welcome.
