cannot install patch as root
Hello,
I was trying to install a patch as root on one of my HP machines.
I gave me the following error
"Access denied to root@HPmachine to register soc.No (i)nsert permission on host"
But after changing the init state to single user mode and again to the init level 3,the problem got resolved.
Describe??
Thanks.
MOney.

Re: cannot install patch as root
Hi TG!
Sometimes this problem occurs.
I don't know why, but normally you can solve it by stopping (you need to check if it is really stopped) the swagentd, and restarting it up again.
I'm installing a new system, and I had this problem yesterday.
regards!

Re: cannot install patch as root
OK. That was no explanation for the fact.
so I've checked my 'new' system, and I've installed PHCO_22526 s700_800 11.0 Software Distributor (SD) Cumulative Patch
If you have HPUX 10.20 - PHCO_23042
just a possible solution.
