cat /etc/copyright

Is it a problem of some sort if I comment out the /etc/copyright line from /etc/profile?

Does HP have an official stance on this?

Thanks in advance!

Shalom,

HP has a special police force to knock on your door in the middle of the night to drag you off for questioning and torture.

Seriously, its most likely a violation of your License to Use(LTU) and/or support agreement.

I know of no technical issues from this, just legal.

Re: cat /etc/copyright

Actually, I commented out the 'cat /etc/copyright' line and now I can't login as root!

:-) I'm kidding, of course. I'm asking about legal or license issue.

Alex,

Title: SYS ADM: preventing copyright information from displaying after login

well according to above doc, the advice is to comment out the line "cat /etc/copyright" in the /etc/profile.

and YES it is a breech, but you are allowed to shorten the message. Check the doc for more info.
