CD-ROM Mounting Problem

Massimo
I didn???t use pfs_mount
Din???t show in bdf

George
Doesn???t show up the cdrom in bdf

SEP
fuser -cu /mnt
No process seen
No process in open in the CD-ROM

Procura
# fuser -cu /dev/dsk/c0t0d0 (below is the output)
Could not find file system mounted at /dev/dsk/c0t0d0

Caesar
Tried diskinfo /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0 (and got the following output)
SCSI describe of dev/rdsk/c0t0d0:
Vendor: LITEON
Product id: CD-ROM LTN485S
Type: CD-ROM
Size: 0
Bytes per sector: 0

B. Selvaraj
No other process is running by ps -ef. .

2. Try whether the /dev/dsk/c0t0d0 is accessible. (diskinfo)
Yes it is
3. Try unmounting the same .
It is not mounted how can I unmount
4. If nothing works, I will go for a reboot :( though it is not a clean solution
Re-booted still the same.

Still waiting all the help.

Hi Mohammed,

http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0x4319c1c1db31724e9b65751bfd05bd45,00.html

above is your previous question.

How about creating a new directory.

# mkdir /cdrom
# mount /dev/dsk/c0t0d0 /cdrom

Re: CD-ROM Mounting Problem

What model system is this?

It could be a hardware issue with the cdrom,I know it's a pain but do you have a spare you could test with?

Re: CD-ROM Mounting Problem

Doh it's a B2000 aint it.

Try a new mount point as Robert has suggested.

It's a logshot but have you tried a different cd in the drive as well.

Re: CD-ROM Mounting Problem

Sorry - cut'n'paste error. the -c is to check for use of a mounted device

# fuser -u /dev/dsk/c0t0d0

and the suggestion of creating a new mountpoint sounds very good to me.

Enjoy, have FUN! H.Merijn

Re: CD-ROM Mounting Problem

Does the drive read the cd when you put it in.

ie is the LED flashing when a cd is inserted?

Re: CD-ROM Mounting Problem

Does the LED *keep* flashing, or does it dim after a short while?

If it keeps flashing, your drive cannot cope with the CD inserted. Was it a rewritable?

Re: CD-ROM Mounting Problem

Procura,

Does the LED *keep* flashing (NO)
or does it dim after a short while? (YES)

it IS not a rewritable?

Re: CD-ROM Mounting Problem

This is when you have to start looking at things that really shouldn't have anything to do with it e.g
automount, seriously mucked up fstab, NFS exports, scsi reserve on a CD if that is actually possible. Other people here can tell if these are really not possible but I'd start looking at the weird stuff!

This one is an interesting one but only if it's not a hardware problem :)
Never preceed any demonstration with anything more predictive than "watch this"
