After adding a default route, the CDE can't start. The following error message appears. " The desktop messaging could not be started. " The problem persists as long as the default route remains.

Re: CDE can't startup
Hello,
for general CDE Login problems see
doc: KBRC00004688
CDE Login Troubleshooting
for your error message, you can find the
doc: KBRC00004164
Unable to initialize or connect to the Desktop messaging system
in the technical knowledge base.
Perhaps this one could help as well:

Re: CDE can't startup
Things to try
run dr_dt to see possible problems
run gated (temporarily) - to see if the router you picked is indeed the one that would be picked from gated. (i.e., netstat -nr to see route table.)
