CDE error - tooltalk problem or not?

Hi,
when I log out HP machine (10.20), I got a error message from the machine and then I could not proceed log-off.
the message is below.
"The request to service this action has failed. A tooltalk connection could not be established"

Is ther anybody who has ever experienced it before?
Thanks.

Re: CDE error - tooltalk problem or not?

You get this message if you have network problem on the system. Make sure the IP addresses of all the interfaces are nslookup-able. Also make sure your hostname is setup correctly.

Try fixing all the problems reported after running /usr/contrib/bin/X11/dr_dt. Check up the syntax of /etc/resolv.conf, /var/adm/inetd.sec. Check for /etc/hosts for weird entries.

Mainly the culprit would be DNS. Try nslookup and reverse nslookups on all the interfaces.

.... and if the above doesn't resolve can you check whatever CDE patch you have installed has its Motif patch dependancy also installed. How longs this been going on and if recently, what changed .... were any patches installed ? Is the rpc.ttdbserver running when you get the error ?
