I a mrunning 11.1 when booting up machine, i get an error message when machine tries t olaunch into CDE environment. i get an error message as follows:
"Fatal server error;
can not open X pointer device! Is one attached
error (pid 2124)server unexpectly died
error (pid 2124)server for display hpserv02:0 cant be started"
It keeps going back and forth between trying to start CDE and the error message.
i already tried another monitor, in case that was it but to no avail.
Thanks, for all your help as I am stumped.
Phil

Re: CDE ERROR
I have a B180L machine and yes there are a mouse and keyboard attached. And I have tried two different ones of each.
All perriferal devices were plugged in before I booted up.
so X pointer is refering to the mouse?
Thanks,
phil

Re: CDE ERROR
call 'ioscan -fn' and check, if you find the required device for a mouse (e.g. /dev/ps2mouse).
Is the local keyboard functional?
