CDE file manager slow.. and not displaying all files.
Hi there
I rebuilt my J5000 to HP-UX 11.0, it was initially running HP-UX 10.20 and am experiencing a few issues with the CDE file manager. It is EXTREMELY slow when browsing a large disk that is mounted (HFS)on the / filesystem and when it gets in, there seem to be files missing -- permissions are right. Is there a patch for this? Or am I dealing perhaps with a HFS compatibility problem?
Also I have a 6GB filesystem swap are on this disk and HP-UX only shows 2048MB with a swapinfo. I have it set up with a min swap area of 1024MB and max og 6000MB, however it never shows more than 2048MB. How does HP-UX manage the min/max swap area. maxswapchunks is high enough.
Thanks
MND

Re: CDE file manager slow.. and not displaying all files.
Marc,
let me tell you this is a known issue and it was fixed in:
PHSS_23797: CDE Runtime APR2001 Periodic Patch
1. dtfile consumes cpu/memory when it tries to open a folder of large size.
actual Patch for CDE Runtime is PHSS_23800, it has a dependency which is the X/Motif patches 23520/23522. Unfortunately we have an issue with that patch it changed the DISPLAY variable in CDE to "local:0.0" so trie to avoid this patch or get the exchange library for this item from your support Center.
