CDE login failed

While CDE into screen safe mode, that's locked the CDE.
While I use root to login CDE, then it's failed. Shoud I configure any files then the root can login the CDE?

Re: CDE login failed

Hi,

Please check the file /etc/securetty
if there is an entry of root in this file then it wont allow you to login other then console.

Re: CDE login failed

Hi,
Is CDE failing for root user only or other users also?

If it is for all the users.you may require to check the name resolution of the server.
Some times if your uname and hostname varies CDE will fail.

Re: CDE login failed

Sometimes it happens due to the corrupted ".dt" directory ( under the user's home directory ).

mv .dt .dt.old

and try logging in

Re: CDE login failed

check the /etc/hosts file it should be readable by every one. ie. permission should be atleast 644.

/var/spool/sockets folder and all it's content should have permisssion set to 777.
