CDE login issues
Hi all:
Got a couple of 10.20 K-series series systems that are having trouble loging into CDE. A user tries to login and the reponse is "incorrect login". The user is able to complete the login through telnet. Have run the dr_dt with no errors to report. The user is going through Exceed on their PC. This was working this AM. Have looked in the /var/dt/Xerrors file and I am getting the following:
XIO: fatal IO error 232 (Connection reset by peer) on X server "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:0.0" after 2294 requests (2287
known processed) with 0 events remaining
In the user's $HOME/.dt/errorlog I am viewing the following:
$DATE$TIME (usr/dt/bin/dtexec) xterm
xterm: fatal IO error 232 (Connection reset by peer) or KillClient on X server "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:0.0"
What is happening?

Re: CDE login issues
Hi Rick,
"couple" of K-series let me think the problem is on the pc-side. I set up "some" K's straight from CD and never had trouble with this issue.
Did you try another X ? Reflection has an evaluation to download. Usally you just go by XDMCP broadcast and are fine.
What is the client ? NT ? W98 ? W2K ?
Check the video-drivers, reduce colors and resolution.
Which Exceed version are you running ?
Checked Exceed website for bugfixes ?
Did it ever worked before ? What changed ?
Did they install some stuff on NT ? Service Packs ? Direct X ?
Just a couple of starting points.
Volker

Re: CDE login issues
There was a network blip that disconnected the sessions. This caused an ungraceful disconnect from the PCs to the Exceed. Was able to have the users reboot their PCs and stopped and restarted the dtlogin process. All is well. Many thanks!
