CDE login problem
Hi All,
CDE is not working in our hp unix server, after that i renamed /etc/resolve file.After that cde is working fine but DNS not working.
PLs resove this one.

First, make sure that your /etc/nsswitch.conf is set to use files then dns. You should have a localhost entry and your hostname entry in /etc/hosts.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Hi Suresh,
First check your /etc/hosts file...
Also check /etc/nsswtich.conf for hostname resolution
/etc/resol.conf --> resolver builds a list of possible fuly qualified hostnames using serach list in the file.

After verifying your /etc/hosts and /etc/nsswitch.conf, make sure you can resolve hostname to ip address:
# nslookup
# nslookup
Only when the above works well, CDE will start to work.
# nslookup
