CDE logon taking so long after install HP/UX 11.00

I don´t understand why my new installation of hp/ux 11.00 is taking so long during CDE login.
I dont´t have any problem if I make a telnet login with the same user login.
CDE login is hanging about 5 minut.
I don´t have any problems after login. NFS is working OK.

Usually CDE login problems are related to network problems.

The first basic troubleshooting step is to make sure that you can resolve both the local IP address and hostname correctly. Do a:

# nslookup 1.2.3.4 (or whatever you IP address is)
# nslookup hostname (whatever your hostname is)

And make sure they both give the expected output.

Check your /etc/hosts file and make sure that the machines name and IP are listed.

Are you using DNS? If so verify that your /etc/resolv.conf and /etc/nsswitch.conf are set up correctly and also verify that your machine name and IP are in DNS.

Most of the times I have had Issues with slow CDE are in the Name Resolution area. Your system must be able to resolve its name in DNS or Hosts.

Thanks for a quick reply...
I have testet nslookup and it is working OK.
I got a reply on a host or IP address in 1 second.
My test is off cource after logon.
Can I find any debug tools or tmp files where theese things is writen.

I would start by looking in your home directory in the .dt directory. There are several logs, and one may have a clue

I'd go back to patrick's suggestion : if this is a DNS issue why not test the theory by : pointing nsswitch.conf's hosts: line to point to files only .... attempt to login ... does the hang occur still if no it's linked with DNS if no move on .....?

Also is the root user affected ? Also Are users $HOME dirs NFS mounted at all ?

could add set -x in .dtprofile and check $HOME/.dt/startlog but it may not show up anything or perhaps tracing the child dtlogin process at user login ?

I have now testet the suggestions from both off you.
It has nothing to do with network.
The logon time is the same, even if the workstaion use the client host file.
It is only related to client installation, because the same user .dt file is working different on several workstations.
I find out that this workstation with this swlist working without problems:

One of the problems that can cause CDE to slow down is a lack of fonts in the right charset. Ensure that xfs is running, your Xserver is using it, and that it has all the *dt* aliases in it. The typical symptom is that it takes a long time to login and you can observe some of the X clients consuming cpu as you login.

You'll find a variety of documents in the ITRC on how to do each of those activities.

I found out that root is going straigt in.
I have no problems with root, but only with regular users.
I will check the font issues.
