Re: cde

#ps -ef|grep dt

Just do a
#/sbin/init.d/dtlogin.rc stop
#/usr/dt/bin/dtconfig -d

This should stop it.

Re: cde

When connecting with reflection, do you mean you login graphically, or are you using reflection's rlogin or telnet?

Perhaps xdm is installed and running on your server, because X is part of a bundle and you only list software bundles.
Do a swlist -l fileset X11 and you'll see (perhaps) a lot of X-window stuff is installed, which may explain if you login graphically.

If you're only running reflection's terminal, it has nothing to do with CDE or X-windows, the tool is running on your PC, not the server. You only connect to normal UX daemons.
Every problem has at least one solution. Only some solutions are harder to find.

Re: cde

Hi carmen,

The other server where you are not able to connect may not be in init 3. Check the /etc/inittab and confirm if the initdefault value is 3. If it is not, then you will not be able to get a CDE login.

I am not sure how you are logging using the reflection. There is a reflection X for the GUI based connectivity and there is a character based reflection .
If you are using just the character based reflection then it is like a normal telnet session.

There can be other reasons, like the improper name resolution or unsupported characters in hostname, which can cause the CDE to fail.

To verify that the CDE related requirements are met, run dr_dt script and rectify any problem reported there. This script is available at /usr/contrib/bin/X11

Cheers,
Mohan.

Re: cde

Hi Carme,

have you solved your problem?

Have you checked /etc/rc.log?

The last message should be 'CDE login server started'.
What's your last message?

Volkmar
