Change the Quorum Server on HP Serviceguard 11.20

We need to change the Quorum Server (A.04.00) on 3 clusters running 11.20 Serviceguard - to a different machine and IP address.
We still have two questions:
1) We assume the clusters must be halted. Is this correct ?
2) When running the cmapplyconf command with the -C option, will the existing packages still be known to the cluster (without being overwritten) ?

That's it folks ...

Re: Change the Quorum Server on HP Serviceguard 11.20

The customer has no intention to re-use the IP address from the "old" quorum server, so the section on replacing the quorum server in the A.04.00 release notes are not valid in this particular case.
Sorry ...

u can modify this with the cluster running.
See page 66 and also table 7.2, page 359 of http://bizsupport2.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c02437444/c02437444.pdf

Re: Change the Quorum Server on HP Serviceguard 11.20

1) As Melvyn indicated, this can be done while the cluster is running in Serviceguard A.11.19 and newer.

2) No, cmapplyconf -C definitely will not overwrite an existing package configuration when you use it to modify an existing cluster configuration (i.e. the cluster name in the new ASCII configuration file is the same as in the current cluster).

Even if you would lose the package configuration somehow, restoring it would be a simple matter of re-applying all the existing package configuration files with cmapplyconf -P commands.

Re: Change the Quorum Server on HP Serviceguard 11.20

1. NO. Cluster does not need to be halted with ServiceGuard 11.19 or higher
2. It only affects the cluster configuration. Packages that are already defined are not affected. That is the nice thing about online configuration.
