Changes to fontpath ignored
I have an application that requires the 75dpi rather that 100dpi font sets. Unfortunately it is picking up the 100dpi fonts because they are listed in the fontpath first. I have reordered the font sets in the /etc/X11/fs/config file appropriately and rebooted the machine. When I do a xset -q the changes in the config file have not been taken and the fontpath remains unchanged. Why would the changes not be reflected in the fontpath?
I know that a xset -fp can be used to eliminate the unwanted fonts from the fontpath but it is reset to default upon logout. I am looking for a way to set this one time for all users since I do not want to modify each users .profile or .dtprofile.
I am running HP-UX 11.00 on a C3600 workstation. This machine is not setup as a font server since only console logins are allowed at this time. This is the pre-deployment configuration stage.

Re: Changes to fontpath ignored
The /etc/profile does not point to anything that I can see as related to the this problem.
The font path can be changed in the /etc/X11/fs/config file by changing the "catalogue=" line. The results of the xset -q command gives a line "Font Path:". So really there is no FONTPATH parameter.

Re: Changes to fontpath ignored
what happens if you run xset fp rehash after editting the config file ?
Can't think of any way to start xset +/-fp on a per user basis other than via their .profile.
Why not just edit the config file are removing the offending fonts, if you need them set up xfs on another hpux system and just run xset +fp tcp/:7000 ?
just some thoughts ....
