Changing entries in resolv.conf

Simple question: when changing entries in the resolv.conf file (needed to to show new ISP), does the machine need to be rebooted for the changes to take effect?

Nope, no reboot requird.

Just make the change, save the changes, and you're done.

Re: Changing entries in resolv.conf

Hi Scott,

any changes to /etc/resolv.conf and /etc/nsswitch.conf are effective the momenet the files are saved. If you are on son solaris box, i think you need a reboot.

Hope this helps.

Re: Changing entries in resolv.conf

No Sanjay, Sun machines don't need a reboot either. In that respect they work just like an HP. You make the change, save, and the change is now effective.

no. If you change it with SAM, it will tell you to reboot. . But I don't really trust SAM...
