Changing from 100mb to gigabit cards

Hi there

I want to put my l2000 server on the gigabit backbone at work. The extreme is in place, I have the cable too and the gigabit card for the 2000. What files/actions do I need to change (/etc/rc.config.d and netconf etc) to make everything work first time.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Bruce

Re: Changing from 100mb to gigabit cards

Bruce,

The installation is rather simple and is very much like installing a 100Mbps NIC. Here is a link that should cover all the steps you need to take care of to ensure it's done right the first time:

The only thing I would add is to check that the GbE switch that you are connecting to has the duplex settings hard coded, although the auto sensing on the GbE cards seem to be better than the past history of the 100Mbps cards.

Hope that helps.

Also make sure you have the gelan driver installed in the kernel

# grep gelan /stand/system
