Changing LAN port to 1Gb

When trying to change one of our LAN ports that is currently set at 100Mb, Full Duplex, Autoneg Off, to 1000Mb, Full Duplex, Autoneg Off I receive message: Speed cannot be set to 1000 when autoneg is Off.

Can this not be set this way, or do I have to have the network switch set a particular way ??

Re: Changing LAN port to 1Gb

Your network switch has to be set to allow 1000BT and 1000BT requires autoneg to be on.

Re: Changing LAN port to 1Gb

Thanks Harry, So after checking with the Network folks I will have to set the port to: Speed 1000Mb, Mode: Full, and Autoneg: On ??

Re: Changing LAN port to 1Gb

Harry is right. And you are correct. 1000 full auto on.

Unlike the old 10/100 type cards which seemed to always like everything to be hard set.

root / # lanadmin -x 5
Speed = 1000 Full-Duplex.
Autonegotiation = On.
