Changing printer IP address
I have a need to change the IP address of a network print queue that was setup using jetadmin. I have changed it in the /etc/lp/interface/ file for that printer. Is there anything else I need to do?
Thanks in advance

Re: Changing printer IP address
If you have the printer name set up in your /etc/hosts file or in DNS change it there. I assume you have made the change to the printer or jet direct card itself as well?
With those, I think you should be covered.

Re: Changing printer IP address
Thanks for your reply.
Scenario continued:
I am trying to configure a network printer queue using HP-UX 10.20 that "now" points to a printer located across the Internet. I have a Firewall that has an LP proxy that is transparent to the inside systems. There is no remote host involved, only an IP configured Jetdirect printer server that is using a routable IP address. Ping does not work through the Firewall.
Using Jetdirect, how do I add this printer? Apparently, the printer needs to be directly connected to even begin to set it up.
There is an existing queue that was used to point to this printer across our WAN. The WAN is down for an extended period. Starting to get the picture? Thanks
Joe

Re: Changing printer IP address
Hi,
To check if you can route your print jobs to the Jetdirect print server from your HP server, try "telnet JetDirectIP 515". ICMP packets may be dropped at your firewall but for network or remote printing to work outside the firewall, the print service at port 515 has to be allowed from inside systems to your JetDirect print server.
Hope this helps. Regards.
