Changing the ip address and the FQDN of the cluster nodes.
Hello All,
We have currently running a hpux cluster with two rx 3600 servers and oracle DB (10g RAC r2) is running on that. Shared volume is ASM over slvm(raw device).
Now we decicded to change these devolopment server to production network. In production netwrok subnet and the hostname will be different.More over we habve decided to change the shared storage also to EVA 8000(CURRENTLY WE HAVE eva 4000).In these regard i have some doubts.
1. For changing the physical ip address is it required to recreate the cluster?
2. Before doing the cluster reconfiguration, we want to take the abckup of the current databse.Because its on raw device we cant take the noraml file backup.so what to do? we dont have any online backuptool like dataprotector to take the backup.
3. Is the entire ip schema and the hostname is getting changed. so is it required to reinstall the oracle rac fully? Moreover the floating ip subnet also will get changed.
Advacnce thanx to all for giving the solution.
Rgds,
Prasanth.

Re: Changing the ip address and the FQDN of the cluster nodes.
Are you using Service Guard on the system apart from ORACLE RAC.
>>1. For changing the physical ip address is it required to recreate the cluster?
If Service Gurad is installed, after changing the System IP Adrres you will have to do a cmquerycl and cmqapplyconf after changing the IP Details in SG configuration files (PKG & Cluster Configuration File)
>> 2 & 3
Oracle site is having enough documents about your 2 & 3 Query.
There is no need to reinstall the Oracle RAC.I have changed the ip(Physical,VIP) address in our Oracle RAC + SG environment.
I have miss the document anyway i will searh for it if i got i will post it.
