Changing the UID and GID in HP Samba

Hi there --

The HP Samba package uses 101 as its user and group id numbers. Can I safely change the id's without adversely affecting Samba?

my apologies, it was not ment to have been a admonishment, it just is easier to sort out good answers from the non-helpful ones, if you are reviewing an earlier thread to work out the solution.
I have often read a thread where every answer got 10 points, but did not contribute anything useful towards solving the problem.

Another pet-hate of mine is when the original posters just seem to abandon their thread and you don't know what the solution was and/or if the problem is resolved.
