Check_recovery with make_tape_recovery
Piggy backing off the posting from http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0xc7195bd3782dd711abdc0090277a778c,00.html , is there a way to have check_recovery tell you what is new since the last make_tape_recovery? It appears the check_recovery only tells me what is new since the last time I ran make_recovery.
I now use make_tape_recovery -x inc_entire=vg00 -I -v -a /dev/rmt/0mn . Any ideas?
Thank you,
Robert

Re: Check_recovery with make_tape_recovery
Hi Robert,
Sorry, check_recovery functionality has been obsoleted with the adoption of make_tape_recovery.
It'll only work with
make_recovery -C
Rgds,
Jeff

Re: Check_recovery with make_tape_recovery
check_recovery as far as I know has never worked with make_tape_recovery. It only worked with make_recovery and used to use vast amounts of system resources. When attempting to run check_recovery the program should complain that the there is no /var/opt/ignite/recovery/makrec.last file and fail. You could utilise it with the old make_recovery program with the -C option. There are other options you could utilise, by installing 'tripwire' or something similar.

Re: Check_recovery with make_tape_recovery
Check_recovery was one of my favourites and allowed me to plan well for the creation of ignite tapes in my previous experience.
It is not available anymore with make_tape_recovery due to I believe, recommendations from user community.
So we need to find another way like looking at logs, arch.include etc.,

You may be disappointed if you fail, but you are doomed if you don't try
